Roman Bus Stop

Roman Bus Stop

Just a random moment while I was exiting Sant’Ivo alla Sapienza. The color of the wall, the afternoon shadows, and the nonchalant fellow just seemed to work perfectly together. A larger version is viewable here.

Sant’Ivo alla Sapienza, Rome

Sant Ivo alla Sapienza, Rome

Built in 1642-1660 by Francesco Borromini, Sant’Ivo alla Sapienza (aka Saint Yves at the Sapienza) is a masterpiece of Roman Baroque architecture. I came across this on the way to the Pantheon. While most tourists head to the Vatican, Sant’Ivo alla Sapienza was populated with art and architecture students doing practice sketches. A larger version is viewable here.

Weekly Photo Challenge: A Round Of Drinks

A Round Of Drinks

This week’s challenge calls for something colorful, and I recalled something I saw in Mexico. Taking a Puerto Vallarta city tour all day will make anyone thirsty. Not surprisingly, the restaurant I stopped at had these drinks stylishly on display. I don’t drink, so I settled for bottled water! Large version available here.

Los Arcos Coconuts

Los Arcos Coconuts

When people go to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, there’s a good chance they’ll take a boat tour out to Los Arcos de Mismaloya. It’s a gorgeous place to visit. If you’d rather stay on land, however, you can take a road trip along the coastline and admire Los Arcos from a distance…and enjoy some fresh coconuts at the lookout! Large version available here.

Weekly Photo Challenge: Intricate, Or: Wine Glass Reflections

Wine Glass Reflections

This week’s challenge calls for something intricate, and I immediately thought of this wall at the Exploratorium. This is part of the “Simply Smashing” exhibit by Rebecca Cummins: A 20-foot wall of about 900 glasses, all filled with water to create optical effects with the reflections. Large version available here. Another angle can be seen here.

Beneath The Paint

This week’s challenge calls for the Rule of Thirds, so I took a close-up shot a wall nearby.

Weekly Photo Challenge: Serenity, Or: A Pacific Morning

A Pacific Morning

This week’s challenge calls for serenity, and it reminded me of a shot I took during a morning walk at the Kona Coast Resort in Hawaii.
