This week’s challenge calls for something abstract, and I remembered something I saw at recently at the Macy’s Flower show. This isn’t just some random flow of colors; it’s a rather cleverly-designed makeup display for Dior. A larger version is viewable here.

Mother’s Day Watermelon
Whenever we travel together, my mother and I always stock up on fruits and vegetables. Good food makes a good trip, and Mother’s Day is no different! Large version available here.
Weekly Photo Challenge: Plankton Rainbow
This week’s challenge is all about forces of nature, so I thought I’d post something about light and its effects of animals. Here’s another Exploratorium exhibit. Basically, zooplankton can distinguish different colors of light. In the ocean, it helps them swim toward the surface, where their food is located. Blue and green lights shine deeper in the water than the other colors, hence why the plankton are attracted to these ones; they think the sun is shining through the water, and that they’re entering the photic zone for a meal. Large version available here.
Ladybug Droplets
Large version available here. Came across this during my morning walk. Hopefully she liked the shower…
Giant Honey Flower
Also known as the Melianthus major. I saw this strange but beautiful plant in a neighbor’s yard!

Weekly Photo Challenge: Warmth, Or: Sunset In Kona, Hawaii
This week’s challenge calls for something warm (definitely needed here right now!), and I immediately thought of this awesome sunset I saw during the Royal Kona Luau on the Big Island.
Weekly Photo Challenge: Twinkle, Or: Kona Sunset Splash
This week’s photo challenge calls for something twinkly, and the sunset I saw at the Royal Kona Luau instantly came to mind. I’ve got quite a few photos of this particular evening – you’ll see soon enough – but this one caught a wave at just the right moment.
